Timeline History of Perrin School from the 1980 Yearbook

1913 - Start of school in Methodist Church. Bessie Carr was 1st teacher

1915 - First school building erected. Mr. Brock & Mr. Files were superintendent and principal.

1916 - 10th grade added

1918 - Most of faculty went to WWI

1918 - 1st graduating class of 9. Bertha Harman, Maggie Hill, Laura Johnson, Louis Nicholson, Oleta Powell, Spurgeon Shawyer, Emma Tripps, Ida Wade & Maggie Woods.

1924 - 'The old gym' was built. Classes held at churches in town.

1925 - Classes in new school building. 226 students. 2 boys & 35 girls graduating.

1926 - 11th grade added.

1927 - Enrollment was 339, but only 3seniors.

1930 - 229 teachers & students, but no graduates.

1935 - Enrollment was 270 with 20 graduates.

1938 - Prosperity in Perrin. One of the largest towns in the area. Many businesses. Indian Springs, Groveland, Westbrook, Joplin, Sparks Springs, Oakdale & Grasshopper schools consolidated with Perrin. Enrollment was over 500 with 39 graduates (largest number in school's history)

1941 - 12th grade added, but many went off to WWII.

1950 - Gibtown school consolidated with Perrin, but the town was destroyed by fires and tornadoes. 18 in graduating class.

1961 - Elementary, high school, agriculture and homemaking buildings were constructed.

1970 - Graduating class increased to 23.

1975 - 'The old gym' was demolished. A new gym, elementary classes and administration building were built.

1977 - Whitt school consolidated with Perrin.

1980 - Graduating class of 11 boys & 11 girls.
